45° 3R Elbow Dimensions
A 45° elbow on a three-diameter centerline radius. It combines the gradual half turn of a 45 with the wide sweep of a 3R bend, for lines where both the direction change and the erosion rate have to be kept gentle.
A specialty turn.
You reach for this when a 45° offset sits in abrasive or high-velocity service and a standard 1.5D bend would wear at the outside of the turn. Conveying lines, slurry headers, and sand-laden production piping are the usual homes for it.
Check the space.
The three-diameter radius makes this a long fitting for the turn it produces. Confirm the center-to-end from the table before committing the spool layout.

Common Questions
What is a 45 degree 3R elbow?
A 45° butt weld elbow whose centerline bend radius is three times the nominal pipe diameter, rather than the 1.5 times used on a standard long radius elbow. The wider sweep reduces turbulence and spreads erosion over more of the outside wall.
When is a 3R worth it over a standard 45?
When the line is abrasive, high velocity, or carries solids, and wear at the bends is what drives your maintenance interval. In clean, moderate-velocity service the standard 1.5D fitting is the sensible choice.
Do you stock 45° 3R elbows?
Availability depends on size, schedule, and material. Send us the size, schedule, and grade and we will confirm what is on the floor and what would be a mill order.
