How Our Spec Sheets Are Checked

What a spec sheet is

A Texas Flange spec sheet lists the dimensions of one ASME B16.5 flange: outside diameter, thickness, hub, facing, bore or thread, bolting and the tolerance on each. It appears on the CAD drawing page for that part, with a printable PDF.

Where the numbers come from

Dimensions are per ASME B16.5 (current edition) and are checked against the Texas Flange catalog.

How each sheet is checked

  1. A script checks every value on the sheet against the Texas Flange catalog.
  2. Two independent AI reviews check each sheet.
  3. Texas Flange spot-checks the sheets in house.

How dimensions are stated

  • Thickness (tf) is measured at the outside diameter to the flange edge, excluding the raised face, with the ASME B16.5 para. 7.4 tolerance. Length through hub also excludes the raised face.
  • Flat face flanges show one thickness row, with length through hub taken from the table.
  • Tolerances follow ASME B16.5 section 7. A dash (—) means the standard lists none for that dimension.
  • Stud bolt lengths are calculated, marked "calc.", and exclude the points.
  • Lap joint stud lengths are figured lap to lap with standard stub ends.
  • Threaded flanges in Class 300 and up show the counterbore. Class 150 threaded flanges have none.
  • Ring joint sheets show the ring standing out by the E value from the ASME table; a sheet is not made without it.
