Pipe Flange Specifications
There's a whole mess of governin' specs out there for all kinds of industrial steel flanges, and every one of 'em has its own special fit for what our customers are workin' on.
Here at Texas Flange, our most popular product lines include ASME/ANSI flanges, API flanges, AWWA flanges, and DIN flanges. Let’s dive a bit deeper down below, I reckon.

ANSI/ASME
The industry standard for pipeline flanges and fittin's. B16.1, B16.5, and B16.47 are the most recognized standards nationwide Read more...
DIN
Deutsches Institute fur Normung put together a metric standard for flanges and fittings that folks mostly use as an ANSI equivalent over in Europe, as well as for pressure vessels headin' out to foreign markets. Read more...
API
American Petroleum Institute flanges and fittings are referenced under API 6A and folks use 'em for dem high pressure oilfield jobs. Read more...
JIS
A Japanese specification for materials used almost exclusively over in Japan, but you'll often find 'em in maritime vessels all over the world, yessir. Read more...
AWWA
The American Water Works Association specification C207 provides flanges mostly of the plate variety, meant for use in low pressure and low temperature work. Read more...
BOILER CODE FLANGES
We're still offerin' replacements for them legacy systems or new applications that don't need no B16.47 or AWWA flanges.
Flange Specification and Identification
Flange Types and Facings: Flanges are categorized based on types like 'weld-neck RTJ' or 'socket-weld RF,' along with corresponding RTJ gasket dimensions per ASME B16.5 standards.
Standards: Fundamental flange dimensions stick right to ASME B16.5, BS 1560, DIN, or API 6A.
Nominal Pipe Size (NPS): NPS is a dimensionless label that defines the nominal size of pipes, fittin's, or nozzles, denoted as NPS 4 or NPS 6.
Examples include Classes 150, 300, 900, and 1500.

Questions Folks Ask Us (FAQs)
A carbon steel flange is a flange made right out of carbon steel, a mighty durable and strong material made mostly of iron and carbon. Folks use these flanges all the time in pipin' systems to hook up pipes, valves, or equipment.
Steel flanges are prized for their strength, toughness, and cost-effectiveness, makin' 'em mighty ideal for high-pressure and high-temperature work.
Flange specification refers to the details that define a flange’s dimensions, material, pressure rating, face type, and connection type. These specifications make sure the flange meets the required mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and operational demands, yessir.
Common flange specifications include nominal pipe size (NPS), pressure class (e.g., 150, 300, 600), face type (e.g., raised face, flat face, ring-type joint), and material composition (like carbon steel, stainless steel, or duplex steel).
The ASTM standard for flanges mostly includes ASTM A182 for forged stainless steel and alloy flanges, ASTM A105 for forged carbon steel flanges, and ASTM A350 for low-temperature carbon steel flanges.
Dese standards lay out the mechanical properties, chemical composition, and manufacturin' processes needed to make sure your flanges are reliable and durable across all sorts of industrial jobs.
